Andrew Oteng-Amoako - Chairman


Professor Andrew Akwasi Oteng-Amoako is the Board Chairman for Nsutaman Rural Bank Limited. He has been on the board for over a decade now. He is a world-wide experienced research and development scientist, lecturer, consultant and quality assurance specialist in wood and timber related industries spanning over 30 years. Special research interest in development and promotion of bamboo raw material as a supplement into wood for use in timber industry and handicraft production. He brings on board a wide spectrum of experiences from academia, administration, leadership and corporate governance.

Prior to his retirement, Prof. Oteng-Amoako held major positions such as: Editor, Timbers of Tropical Africa in the Netherlands, Deputy Director- Forestry Research Institute of Ghana (FORIG), Kumasi, Ghana, Head, Biology and Forest Health Division, FORIG, Kumasi, Leader - Non-timber Forest products Programme FORIG, Kumasi, External Examiner- School of Post Graduate Studies Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi and University of Development Studies, Tamale, Ghana, Adjunct Principal Lecturer-University of Technology, Lae, and Forestry College, Bulolo, Papua New Guinea, Chief, Principal and Senior Scientist &Head- Forest Products Research Branch of Papua New Guinea Forest Research Institute, Lae Papua New Guinea, and Research Scientist and Head, Wood Anatomy Section. Professor Andrew Akwasi Oteng-Amoako was a Founding Member of Bamboo and Rattan Development Network of Ghana, Deputy Coordinator, International Union of Forestry Research Organization on Processing and Utilization of Tropical Timbers, Member of International Tropical Timber Organization – special Expert Task Force, Member and Research Scientist for the Center for Biodiversity Utilization and Development (CBUD), Institute of Renewable Natural Resources, KNUST and Chairman & Member-Ghana Wood Products Standards Committee, Ghana Standards Board, Accra

Prof Oteng –Amoako was also a member of seven Professional Associations namely
World Bamboo Council, International Association of Wood Anatomist (IAWA), Associate member of Institute of Wood Science (IWS), United Kingdom, member of International Research Group on Wood Preservation (IRGWP), Sweden, Forest Products Research Society (FPRS), Madison, USA, Ghana Institute of Professional Foresters(GIPF), and an Affiliate Member of International Network of Bamboo and Rattan (INBAR), China

Professor Oteng-Amoako holds a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Wood Products Engineering from the State University of New York, USA, a Master of Science in Forest Products from Oregon State University, USA and a Bachelor of Science Wood Science & Technology, University of Hamburg, Germany.
